But even though we like to think of friends as our chosen family, we still communicate with friends and family members differently, according to a study from Oxford University. Maintaining friendships requires frequent communication to create even a low-level emotional bond, and therefore friendships may actually be more fragile than family relationships. Though Roberts and Dunbar found that family relationships withstand the test of time, participants in their study still contacted friends more frequently than kin. Adults generally tend to expend more energy on friendships than family relationships, knowing that family ties are already strong and that maintaining friendship requires more contact.

Proof There's Nothing Quite Like A Sibling Bond | HuffPost Life
Strong and positive family relationships are enjoyable for their own sake — it just feels good to be part of a warm and loving family. But positive family relationships are important for lots of other reasons too. Positive family relationships are an important part of strong families. Strong families grow from love, security, communication, connection — and a few rules and routines too. Quality family time is about making the most of the time you spend together as a family.

Proof There's Nothing Quite Like A Sibling Bond
Spending time together is one of the greatest gifts families can give to one another. Not only does quality time strengthen and build family bonds, but it also provides a sense of belonging and security for everyone in the family. In fact, research has shown that when families enjoy activities together, children not only learn important social skills but also have higher self-esteem. Strong family bonds also encourage better behavior in children, improve academic performance, strengthen parent-child communication, and teach your child how to be a good friend. As a parent, you play a key role in cultivating and protecting these family bonds.
As I was answering the Family rituals questionnaire, I felt good as i was somewhat compelled to reminisce the activities which I shared with my family when I was a child. It feels good to see that our family got a high score in the questionnaire. In only proves that we have been quite close as a family.
